As some of you may have seen via IG (@flightofthebumble.d) , last week Dewdrop and I went back to Sunny Butlins Skegness. So how did it differ to our pre covid trip in June 2021?
So the first thing was the amount of character photo opportunities! You were able to have photographs with all the characters that were featured that weekend, including the well known Skyline Gang and Billy and Bonnie. The queues weren’t really that bad to meet them, and the photoshoot was really well organised with wristbands to access your photos at the booth
Another thing we didn’t experience last time was the facepaint / glitter tattoo / hair braiding shop. I would definitely come with a few extra pounds as Dewdrop managed to convince me to get everything done. The ladies in the shop were so incredibly friendly, and the prices were between £4-6 for face paint, £4 for a tattoo and £5 per braid
Obviously the use of masks were seriously reduced but still people wore them down to personal choice. The big top were quite busy with people, and the dance floor during the kids disco was absolutely rammed— unfortunately being a child of the pandemic dewdrop hadn’t seen that many people in one place since before she was a year old, so it was a bit of shock. Thankfully she adjusted well, and the shows and discos were some of our favourite parts of the entire trip
All the restaurants were also open, including the take away pizza (recommended if you’re ever there), and you didn’t need to prebook the swimming slots (however most of the other activities you do need to book via the app!).
The room is still cleaned throughly before guests arrived, and thankfully as we arrived on public transport you were able to book your arrival slot beforehand.
I can safely say it was an incredibly different experience to our trip back in June. Although we had fun in June, the post pandemic restrictions absolutely made it a completely different experience. Thank you Butlins— it was a weekend we both throughly enjoyed
